Instead, she encounters Duke Eusta, a powerful villain, who abruptly questions her motivations and intentions given her new status. Ciel's reactions, including calling the Duke by his first name, and her thought process regarding his power and history, leads to a complex interaction where he seems to both challenge and appraise her. The chapter ends with Eusta making an observation regarding Ciel having two lives after a misunderstanding about her calling him a monster.
